Hobsons Bay Toy Library is a non-profit community run organisation. We rely on volunteering, grants and donations to keep the toy library running so we are very grateful for your contribution.

Toy Donations

Below are some donation guidelines to help us avoid waste and duplication. These guidelines are updated periodically to reflect our current collection needs.

We will gladly accept pre-loved toys which meet the below requirements:

• All toys must be fully functional, clean and in good condition

• Toys must be complete with all parts

• Toys that are easy to clean (i.e. no soft toys or teddies)

• Toys that are durable and robust

• Where possible, toys with manuals if they require instructions to operate

Toys that we cannot accept include:

• Remote control toys

• Toys with rechargeable batteries

• Toys not suitable for children under the age of 6 years

• Soft toys

• Toys that might be deemed hazardous for small children

If you think you have a suitable toy for donation please drop us an email (hobsonsbaytoylibrary@gmail.com) with details, including a photo if possible, and one of our lovely coordinators will get back to let you know if it would be a suitable addition to our collection.

We review all possible donations against the current collection. We really appreciate donations and also want to ensure our collection is being fully utilised and is appropriate for our current member base.

Donate your time

The Toy Library is looking for volunteers to assist for all open sessions and tasks include sorting, checking returned toys & returning toys to shelves. We also have some activities that can be completed at home like toy repairs or repainting.
