Meet Your Committee Jennifer MvEvoy, Co-Treasurer

We welcomed Jennifer to our Committee in April 2019

We welcomed Jennifer to our Committee in April 2019

How long have you been a Toy Library member?

Our family have been members for two years now. We first joined when we moved from interstate to join the inner west community. We would visit the library every couple of weeks to borrow new toys for our daughter. It was really fun watching her pick out her favourite toys for the week. We look forward to being active borrowers again when we welcome our new boy into the family!

What does your Co-Treasurer role involve?

Preparing the monthly financial reports and budgets and keeping track of the finances to make sure that the library continues to operate effectively.

Do you have a favourite type of toy?

Puzzles and anything that encourages creativity.

What is your favourite thing about living in the inner west?

It’s such a close knit community with a real village feel. We decided to make this place our home after having moved around a lot and now we wouldn't live anywhere else!

Meet Your Coordinators: Angela Draganjac, Newport Coordinator

What have you loved the most about being a part of the toy library community?

I have loved being involved with a local community and time at the toy library is always enjoyable, and it has been great to provide our daughter with such a wide range of toys.

You are coming on board as a Coordinator at our Newport branch. What are you looking forward to about your new role at the Toy Library?

I look forward to assisting parents to find toys, reuniting lost pieces with their toys, adding to our collection with the amazing donations we receive and suggesting the perfect Party Pack item to make a party memorable. I look forward to ensuring a lot of families like ours benefit from this terrific community resource.

What does your Coordinator role involve?

I am responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Newport branch including customer service and toy returns and loans, repairs and volunteer management. I look forward to meeting your family soon!

Would YOU like to join our Committee?

Some of our long standing Committee members are retiring. We would like to thank them for their years of great service to all toy library members.

Being on the committee is a great way to meet other local parents and contribute to the running of our fantastic volunteer driven organisation. The toy library is such a vital service in our community but without an active committee, it will be forced to close.

The Committee holds monthly meetings, alternating between the Laverton and Newport branches, and depending on the role you’re interested in you can give as little or as much time as you can.

We all have young children and babies to care for and have many other commitments to time manage, yet we love being part of the toy library committee and giving back to our community.

We are looking for people to take on the following roles:

  • Co-Treasurer

  • Grants Coordinator

  • Events Coordinator

  • Toy Coordinator

If you have interest in any of the positions please contact Lisa Marty (President) via hobsonsbaytoylibrary@gmail.com

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am from Indonesia, but I moved to to Melbourne 5 years ago. As well as my work with the toy library, I'm a part time educator in a German-Australian childcare centre.  I'm married and we are hoping to start our own family. I feel so lucky that I came to the inner west of Melbourne because it has been so easy to settle in. I have met some beautiful people and felt part of the community right from the start.

What have you loved the most about being a part of the toy library community?

I love working around children and being involved in children’s development . Being part of the toy library team means I get to help to provide a service that encourages exploration, curiosity, play and creativity for children, and I love that it is a service that everyone in the community has access to. I am also passionate about caring for the environment, and love that toy libraries contribute to eliminating waste and saving space in the family home. One of the best parts of my role is seeing the expression of the children when they pick up a new toy from the toy library!

Can you tell us one fun fact about yourself?

I've been playing basketball for more than 17 years and I play for a local ladies’ team.
